What is the Relationship between God and Maths?
If we hold the belief that God is the author
of mathematics, it's worth pondering why He might have created it and how this
shapes our relationship with Him.
To begin with, God crafted math for the same
reason He brought the universe into existence—along with everything within it,
including us: for His glory. Math is one of the countless ways in which God's
sovereignty, endless wisdom, and infinite nature are displayed. As we dive into
mathematical studies, we can't help but stand in awe of its Creator, who
designed it to be remarkably consistent and reliable. Whether we're solving
problems, building structures, overcoming challenges, or managing our finances,
math becomes a tool that, when used wisely, can reflect God's glory.
Additionally, math connects us to God by
bringing logic and order into our daily lives. It offers solutions to everyday
problems we encounter, from balancing a budget and paying bills to following
recipes and handling home repairs or improvements.
Moreover, math is yet another reason to
praise God for His unwavering faithfulness. The reliability of mathematics is
rooted in the truth that our all-powerful and faithful God is consistently
sustaining the universe. It's because of His continuous care that the basic
principles of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division yield
dependable results every time. We can trust in math because we trust in the God
who, in His perfection, ensures that it always works just as it should.
